Motor Vehicle Registration
Operating a motor vehicle without current registration violates Florida Statute § 320.02. It is a noncriminal traffic infraction carrying a base fine around $116, but it frequently surfaces during traffic stops that escalate into license, insurance, or drug charges. Because it is a civil infraction rather than a crime, the defense focus is usually proof of registration, sales-tax and title transfer timing for newly purchased vehicles, and keeping the stop itself suppressible for any criminal counts attached to it.
